PRE ORDER: Natural indigo watercolour and pigment stick duo
MADE TO ORDER : Please allow up to two weeks for delivery. I make each set by hand in small batches. There is free postage on all orders.
This duo set contains a soft pigment stick and an extra large acorn filled with watercolour; both handmade with natural botanical pigment: natural indigo blue.
Set comes with a hand written colour swatch and is presented in a travel tin.
Paint:
The watercolour paints are made by hand in small batches using natural indigo which is ground to a fine powder. The pigments are mixed with a binder by hand using a traditional glass muller and slab. The binder contains only a handful of ingredients including organic clove oil which acts as a natural preservative. The pigment mixture is then carefully poured into empty acorn caps and left to dry. They can be used in the same way as any other dry watercolour paints. The paint filled acorns are perfect to use in artist travel sets and are plastic free.
SIZE: Approx. the same volume as a half pan, with most colours containing 3ml depending on the individual pigment and shrinkage.
Pigment stick:
The pigment sticks are soft and resemble the texture of oil pastels. These are more suited to block colouring, large scale work, wax resist and sgraffito techniques. During the curing process the pigment sometimes settles to the bottom or can settle unevenly, this is normal and doesn't effect the overall colour.
Both pigment stick and watercolour acorn are made with artist grade lightfast pigment : not intended for children.
